Itinerary:

You will be collected by our air-conditioned four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle. Our North Queensland tours travel north along the Captain Cook Highway, one of Australia’s most scenic coastal drives towards the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park. You will cross the Daintree River by cable ferry and journey through this spectacular example of Mother Nature, which contains the highest number of plant and animal species that are rare, or threatened by extinction.

Your experienced guide will enlighten your journey with incredible stories and history as you continue on the 4WD only Bloomfield Track which will take you  through some of the most spectacular scenery in Australia, crossing rivers and climbing mountain ranges.  We stop for lunch at the famous Lion’s Den Hotel (est. 1875), North Queensland’s oldest running bush pub. We continue to the unique geological oddity, which is Black Mountain, surrounded in mystery and spoken of in ancient Aboriginal legend.

Our tours arrive in Cooktown where you will have an amazing 360 degree view from Grassy Hill of the Coral Sea, the Endeavour River and Cooktown.  Have your camera ready!  Enjoy free time to explore Cooktown. Our North Queensland tours return by the inland road, the Mulligan Highway, through a diverse landscape of cattle stations, the Palmer River Goldfields where one of Australia's richest gold fields was discovered in 1872.  The outback of Far North Queensland offers amazing scenery.

Return flight to Cairns along the spectacular scenic Daintree Coast, the World Heritage rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef with Hinterland Aviation.  Flight departs Cooktown at 6.05pm arriving Cairns at 6.50pm (flight will be experienced at sunset during our winter months of May-Aug.

Please note that the flight with Hinterland Aviation is a commercial flight. Transfers on arrival at Cairns General Aviation Airport are NOT included, please make your own way to your accommodation. Taxi's available on arrival.

Itinerary:

Experience our regions rich Aboriginal history and culture on this exclusive day tour adventure from Cairns and Port Douglas. Travel along one of Australia's most scenic coastal drives as you head north of Port Douglas to Cooya Beach. (Kuku Kuku) This special place is a traditional fishing ground of the Kuku Yalanji people. 

This unique coastal place has three diverse ecosystems-beach, mangroves and coastal reef. Here one of the Kubirri Warra brothers of Kuku Yalanji Cultural Habitat Tours will teach you how to throw a spear and other Aboriginal hunting techniques. Walk with the brothers on their traditional lands as you learn how to track and hunt for fish, mud crabs, mussels through the mangroves. Search and try bush tucker and bush medicines.

Enjoy home-made damper, tea, coffee and taste what you have caught on the balcony of their family home overlooking the ocean. The brothers demonstrate different Aboriginal artefacts and their uses.

We farewell the brothers and travel further north to Silky Oaks Lodge for a delicious lunch overlooking the Mossman River and Rainforest.  Continuing north to the quaint Daintree Village in the rainforest we follow the Daintree River to Tranquillity on the Daintree - a secluded 450 acre private property.

The Niau Falls are a pristine natural wonder, and your guided rainforest walk will unlock the secrets of this fascinating ecosystem. You will see strange primitive plants and learn about the original French settler family and their incredible story of survival. There's time for a swim in this magical rainforest environment before heading south to Mossman and Janball Aboriignal Art Gallery and meet with artist in residence Binna who is your tutor today as you share in an authentic Aboriginal Art experience.  Aboriginal art and craft are on display that depict the reef and rainforest of the Kuku Yulanji people. Your day of discovery comes to a close and you are returned to your accommodation. 

This exciting and interative tour through the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest provides a great insight into Australia's Indigenous heritage and combines culture and nature with lots of fun. Please note tour can operate in reverse depending on tide times.

This will take you through some of the most incredible scenery in the country. Crossing rivers and climbing mountain ranges. We stop for lunch at the famous Lion’s Den Hotel (est. 1875), one of North Queensland’s oldest running bush pubs. Continue to the unique geological oddity, which is Black Mountain, surrounded in mystery and spoken of in ancient Aboriginal legend. Arriving in Cooktown have your camera ready with 360 degree panoramic views from Grassy Hill of Cooktown, the Coral Sea and the Endeavour River. Overnight - Cooktown

Day 2
Free Day to explore Cooktown or take the optional Aboriginal Rock Art tour available. (see below) Visit the World Class James Cook Museum or stroll along the shores of the Endeavour River. The unique charm and historic atmosphere of the main street still prevails. You can experience the unspoilt beauty of the area, which remains much the same as when Captain Cook knew it in 1770. This afternoon we depart Cooktown via the inland road, The Mulligan Highway, travelling through a diverse landscape of cattle stations and the Palmer River Gold mine region, which is the Outback of Far North Queensland. Stop for dinner (at your own expense) at the authentic Queenslander pub in the old mining town of Mount Molloy.

Optional Tour -Rainbow Serpent Rock Art Tour with Aboriginal Elder Willie Gordon from 7.45am – 1.15pm
An early start today as you will be collected from your accommodation by Nugal-warra Elder, Willie Gordon for a half day Rainbow Serpent Tour. Willie has a great smile, an infectious laugh and will be taking you to visit the rock art sites on his traditional country outside Hope Vale Aboriginal Community. The Rainbow Serpent Tour takes you through a dramatic landscape to six rock art sites, including an Ancestral Birth Cave and the Reconciliation Cave.

Wear comfortable walking shoes today as you’ll be walking through Willie’s country. After returning to Cooktown you are free to enjoy the reminder of the day at your leisure. Visit the World Class James Cook Museum or stroll along the shores of the Endeavour River. The main street has a charm and historical atmosphere, which still prevails. Itinerary:

Day 1 (L)
This morning you will be collected from your accommodation by our industry partner Billy Tea Bush Safaris. Travel north along the scenic route to Mossman, lush farmland contrasts with seascape as we approach the majestic Daintree River. A short morning tea break, then its 'all aboard' for an informative one hour river cruise. Relax and enjoy the splendour only the Daintree can offer as you learn of Estuarine Crocodiles, mangrove forests and wildlife, this is nature at its best!

We ascend the Alexandra Range and pause for a panoramic view of World Heritage Tropical Rainforest merging with the azure colours of the Coral Sea. Experience the rainforest intimately on our elevated National Park Board-walk. Accurate interpretations of flora and fauna will be given with ample time for photographs and questions as we search for the elusive, rare and totally unique Southern Cassowary and other wildlife species within this particular habitat.

A delicious barbecue lunch with freshly prepared salads is served while you have the opportunity to hand feed a kangaroo and enjoy a cold drink from the bar. Our tour does a little more. It takes us beyond Cape Tribulation along the 4WD Bloomfield Track to pristine Emmagen Creek and time for a refreshing rainforest stream swim. Seek fish and turtles in the creek, butterflies and exotic birds in the trees and indulge in a feast of tropical fruit, a complimentary glass of wine and a cup of traditional Billy Tea, all of which enhance the tranquil surroundings. At Cape Tribulation Beach there is a little time to swim in the Coral Sea (seasonal) or stroll along the beach and board-walk to the photographers' platform overlooking the mountains and coast where the 'Rainforest meets the Reef'. You will be taken to your overnight accommodation in Cape Tribulation where the remainder of the day and evening is at your leisure.

Day 2 (L) 10:30am
This morning you will be collected from your accommodation by Adventure North Australia where your journey will continue to Cooktown-The Last Frontier of North Queensland. The 4WD only Bloomfield Track allows you to travel through the heart of this World Heritage Listed area providing incredible glimpses of Australia hard to imagine. Travel over rugged mountain ranges and river crossings. Look for crocodiles and other Australian wildlife and fauna. We stop for lunch at the Lions Den Hotel, one of North Queensland’s oldest running bush pubs (est. 1875). Visit the mysterious Black Mountains steeped in Aboriginal legend before arriving mid afternoon in Cooktown. From Grassy Hill enjoy 360 degree panoramic views of Cooktown, the Endeavour River and the Coral Sea. Have your camera ready! Overnight- Cooktown.

Day 3
Free Day to explore Cooktown or maybe take on the optional Aboriginal Rock Art Tour. Visit the World Class James Cook Museum or stroll along the shores of the Endeavour River. Day 1 -  Great Barrier Reef- ex Port Douglas DEPARTS DAILY with Poseidon Cruises

Poseidon takes you to three spectacular snorkelling sites on the edge of the Outer Barrier Reef at the Agincourt Ribbon Reefs. These pristine reefs are opposite the Daintree Rainforest  All sites have been selected for oth the shallower coral gardens favoured by snorkellers, and the adjacent deeper walls and drop-offs preferred by scuba divers.
